Description

The location of the hillfort on a river island, the type of fortifications, and especially the remains of masonry are not typical of traditional Latvian hillforts.

Kaupre Hillfort is covered with grass and sparse old wild apple trees and has been used as pasture. The settlement layer on the plateau is weak and thin, partly washed away, partly covered with sand. Thin and smooth clay pottery shards have been found there, which Ernest Brastiņš dated to the latter half of the Late Iron Age.
