Description
The sculpture is a reminder of the historical name of the city – only in 1926 the Goat settlement was renamed Viesite. The former name of the settlement comes from the Goat Pub, around which urban development began to take shape. Viesite was often also called Ekengrave, on which manor’s land the plots of land were sold for the construction. Until 1926 Viesite was called variously – Goats, Ekengrave, Goat settlement, Ekengrave Goat settlement.
