Description
The Radži stone, or Brodi quarry stone, is the largest secular stone in Zemgale and the second largest in Latvia. It has a girth of 19 m, a length of 6.5 m, a width of 6.1 m, a height of 4.0 m (2.4 m above the water) and a volume of over 85 m3. The weight of the stone is estimated at 200 tonnes. Large crystalline Rapakivi granite with ovoids (4 cm), and some areas without them.
The stone was discovered in the second half of the 1970s, in a dolomite quarry, when the overlying moraine was excavated. It is located in a reservoir, about 40-70 metres from the shore.
