Boating on the River Suseja is an exciting and unique experience, offering a variety of landscapes and adventures. The Suseja can be boated for 107 km from Aknīste to the mouth of the River Mēmele. In length of 4.2 km river is Latvian and Lithuanian border river. This river crosses two municipalities and offers various routes suitable for experienced boaters and beginners. Boating on the River Suseja, you can enjoy vast rural landscapes, mysterious forests and scrublands. A small hydroelectric power station has been created in Nereta by filling the Nereta reservoir on the Suseja. Two more small HPPs are located downstream of Ērberģe. The river offers fast-flowing and calm stretches – suitable for active boating and leisurely relaxation. The river is navigable all year round, when there is no ice. In March, the water level is usually high. There are several historical sites and manor houses along the Suseja, which make this route particularly interesting for culture and history lovers.
